New Semester, New Room and Travels

View From the Texas Eagle Amtrak

I'm finally back at NMSU starting my second semester. Classes started today but I only had one class, fitting and selling. I won't find out which horse I will be training until February 5th but I'm super excited to see how much I can accomplish with Him/Her (hopefully him) in the next few months. A few friends have already offered to help me with the class while I'm recovering from surgery which is super helpful.

Besides classes starting today I have been pretty busy. I gave my first FSDS practice test to my friend Stacy and her SD Kodi. The team is doing really well and i'm very impressed with what they have accomplished so far. I think Stacy is starting to feel better every day which is great to watch! Kodi is her first dog so I have been trying to help her as much as I can. Speaking of service dogs, I sent Nick's new person a letter hoping to hear back on how he is doing. I sent a few puppy pictures and wrote about some of the adventures he had as a pup.

Before school started I was in Denver for a little less than a week doing a 4-H horse public speaking competition. Arizona did the best they have ever dong placing 4th overall out of the 32 western states and Canada competing. While in Denver I spent 48 hours inside the hotel without leaving because it was -2 degrees most of the time and then broke down and went to the wranglers store with my friend Nikki. Besides the cold it was a great trip.

I flew back to phoenix on sunday night, got home around 6pm, had dinner with my dad, went to my moms house to spend the night, then woke up at 3:30am the next morning to take a train from Maricopa,AZ to El Paso, TX. It was only a 9 hour train ride but I met a lot of nice people and slept. Let me tell ya, train travel is so much more comfortable than flying or driving. Although I do have to admit, ridding the train thru Juarez Mexico is kind of sad. I never realized how close I was to that.

Stacy and Amelia picked me up from El Paso. When I got back to NMSU I worked on unpacking my new room. I have my own room this semester. I need my own quiet space for studying and staying focused on life. It's super cute and I love it! My suite mate is also super nice and we have an honors class together which is exciting :)

I'll post more about the rest of my classes next week.
Kyia + helping to train Kodi (one step closer to having a guide pup next semester)
